The Sr Product Engineer – ASME Pressure Vessels TFR (Taco Fall River) performs the design, layout, testing, and evaluation of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) pressure vessels and associated components. They perform product development and customer design activities including analysis of ASME code requirements, interpretation and implementation of customer specifications and documentation requirements. They perform research and development tasks as required for product line expansions and new product development. The Sr Product Engineer – ASME Pressure Vessels provides existing product line support through design review and modification activities and development of production improvement related design changes. They communicate with other engineering functions including design, process, production, and quality to ensure time and cost goals are reached. The Senior role conducts engineering studies and provides technical leadership as a subject matter expert in ASME Section VIII, Div I. They assist in training less experienced engineers and may assign daily work to technical design staff.

  • Designs and develops specialized ASME Section VIII Div 1 pressure vessels and heat exchangers for the HVAC, Plumbing and Industrial markets.
  • Performs theoretical and numerical analysis of structural and thermal characteristics of products.
  • Creates sizing and application procedures for sales literature.
  • Provides analysis to support effort in solution of customer problems and/or applications.
  • Manages daily flow of incoming engineering production orders and ensures efficient processing of Engineering Change Orders, submittal drawings and thermal design requests.
  • Manages daily activities of ASME design Engineers and Product Designers.
  • Recommends new products and improvements to existing products as required to resolve production or service problems or to reduce costs.
  • Works with IT to develop configurators and similar software that interacts with the company’s ERP system.
  • Contributes to the development of new product marketing specifications.
  • Works directly with customers when needed, to resolve product issues in the field.
  • Checks drawings prepared by product designers or reviews drawings previously checked by a Product Engineer for accuracy and completeness.
  • Plans tests and investigations to determine practicability and proof of design.
  • Consults with Marketing, Operations and Quality Assurance Departments about problems and works out solution to these problems.
  • Participates in technical sales presentations.
  • Assures conformance of product to applicable approval agency standards.
  • Initiates patent action for assigned product in consultation with Executive Management.
  • Assists Marketing and Sales Department in the investigation of field service problems or in application engineering problems when requested to do so.
  • Initiates required action to obtain field test data on products.
  • Maintains current awareness of developments in the Engineering fields through reading of technical journals, taking courses, attending meetings, etc.
  • Requires 10-12 years of product engineering experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years supervisory / management experience required.
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering required, Advanced degree or P.E. certification preferred.
  • Experience in the HVAC industry preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of ASME codes, Section VIII, Division 1 and TEMA Standards, AutoCAD and Solidworks.
  • Knowledge of thermal design and ASME software.
  • Must have strong leadership and organizational skills.
