About The Position

We're seeking a seeking a Cloud Architecture Manager to lead and oversee our Cloud Architecture team. Applied Systems is dedicated to delivering cutting-edge solutions that empower insurance agencies and carriers to optimize operations, enhance customer experiences, and drive business growth. As a Cloud Architecture Manager, you will play a pivotal role in defining and implementing cloud strategies, ensuring scalability, security, and operational excellence across multi-cloud and hybrid environments.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in cloud architecture or infrastructure roles, 2+ years in leadership preferred.
  • Proven experience designing and managing multi-cloud and hybrid environments (GCP, AWS, Azure, Data Center).
  • Strong background in infrastructure modernization, migration, and cost optimization.
  • Strong foundation in on-premises infrastructure, including VMWare, F5 load balancers, and networking
  • Experience with distributed systems, microservices architecture, and service discovery tools like HashiCorp Consul.
  • Expertise in cloud-native architectures, networking, virtualization, and security.
  • Expertise with Windows, Linux, and Kubernetes platforms
  • Advanced knowledge of IaC tools, i.e., Terraform, Terraform CDK with TypeScript, Packer, and HCL.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (GitLab, GitHub, etc.).
  • Experience with monitoring tools (Datadog) and security solutions (HashiCorp Vault, Cloud Armor).
  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server and PostgreSQL for database management
  • Strong understanding of compliance frameworks and disaster recovery planning.

Nice To Haves

  • Cloud certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, GCP Professional Cloud Architect).
  • Experience with microservices, serverless, and event-driven architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of Cloud Architects, fostering professional growth and technical excellence.
  • Define and implement cloud architecture best practices aligned with organizational goals and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, DevOps, Security, Product) to ensure architectural decisions support business objectives.
  • Develop and execute strategies for cloud adoption, modernization, and migration across GCP, AWS, Azure, and on-prem environments.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, automation, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of secure, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud solutions.
  • Establish architectural standards, compliance frameworks, and governance models for hybrid environments.
  • Partner with FinOps to ensure budget allocations are defined and tracked.
  • Approve high-level architectural designs for resiliency, scalability, and performance.
  • Drive proof-of-concepts (POCs), technology evaluations, and reference architectures.
  • Ensure alignment of infrastructure strategy with application and business requirements.
  • Champion automation using tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes.
  • Oversee Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices for consistent and repeatable deployments.
  • Integrate CI/CD pipelines for efficient delivery of infrastructure components.
  • Collaborate with security teams to enforce best practices for identity, encryption, and compliance (SOC 2, ISO, GDPR).
  • Define disaster recovery and high-availability strategies across cloud and data center environments.
  • Ensure robust monitoring and observability frameworks for cloud infrastructure.
  • Promote proactive issue detection and resolution to maintain service reliability.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of architecture standards and workflows.
  • Partner with vendors to evaluate and integrate new cloud technologies.
