About The Position

Manager (Applications Consultant) (full-time; multiple positions) needed in Chicago, IL and various unanticipated locations throughout the U.S. to design, develop, enhance, customize, and integrate software applications. Under the direction of a Senior Manager, oversee efforts of lower-level team members while serving as technical lead and mentor. Responsible for software-specific design and realization, as well as overseeing testing, deployment and release management, or technical and functional application management of client-specific package-based solutions. Define systems strategy and develop systems requirements. Analyze existing applications to identify required performance and response time improvements. Design, prototype, test, and define support procedures and implement practical business solutions under multiple deadlines. Determine feasibility of software application design within time and cost constraints. Translate business case into a detailed technical design, and technical blueprints into requirements and specifications. Identify and manage operational/technical issues, and key scope activities. Engage with customer and take inputs to resolve escalations. Forecast work and plan team support to meet requirements for deployments. Review and provide timely feedback to team to improve quality and productivity. Design interfaces to external systems. Oversee installation/customization of software to meet requirements, integration testing, user acceptance testing, and system/quality assurance testing. Modify design as needed to maintain optimal application performance. Coordinate with application support team to eliminate recurring incidents/minimize the impact of incidents that cannot be prevented. Monitor application performance and identify issues that impact performance. Perform impact analysis of any code or design changes. Create data models, workflow designs, and integration approaches. Design and develop specifications for tracking applications for end users. Develop monthly reports to present to client and stakeholders. Assess priority and severity of issues and resolve issues to ensure delivery of project.

Requirements

  • Must have a Master’s Degree (or foreign equiv) in Computer Science, Engineering (any), Business, Math, or related field, plus two (2) years of IT experience.
  • Alternatively, a Bachelor’s Degree (or foreign equiv) in Computer Science, Engineering (any), Business, Math, or related field, plus five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate IT experience.
  • Must have one (1) year of IT work experience with any one of the specified skill sets.
