The position involves overseeing and managing accounting operations for HMSA and its subsidiaries, which includes general ledger and reconciliation activities. The role focuses on streamlining processes and implementing efficiencies to optimize financial operations. The individual will ensure the accuracy of financial statements and adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP), and tax laws. This includes researching technical accounting issues as needed and conducting in-depth financial analysis to identify trends and variances, providing actionable insights to support management decision-making. Additionally, the role requires coordination and support for internal and external audits, implementing recommendations to strengthen internal controls. The individual will supervise, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team, providing guidance on technical matters, fostering professional growth, and promoting a collaborative team environment. Participation in the development and enhancement of financial systems and processes is also expected, ensuring data integrity and accuracy within accounting software and ERP systems. The position may also involve performing miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned or directed.

  • Perform miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned or directed.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field and five years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
  • Two years of previous management/supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, SAP, and other relevant accounting standards and regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience with month-end close, financial statements, and various internal and external audits.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex financial information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.
