The position involves overseeing and managing accounting operations for HMSA and its subsidiaries, including general ledger and reconciliation activities. The role requires streamlining processes and implementing efficiencies to optimize financial operations. The individual will ensure the accuracy of financial statements and adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP), and tax laws. This includes researching technical accounting issues as needed and conducting in-depth financial analysis to identify trends and variances, providing actionable insights to support management decision-making. Additionally, the role involves coordinating and supporting internal and external audits, implementing recommendations to strengthen internal controls, supervising and mentoring a high-performing accounting team, and participating in the development and enhancement of financial systems and processes to ensure data integrity and accuracy within accounting software and ERP systems. The individual will also perform all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned or directed.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field and five years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
  • Two years of previous management/supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, SAP, and other relevant accounting standards and regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience with month-end close, financial statements, and various internal and external audits.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex financial information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.
