About The Position

The Accounting Manager is responsible for supporting the financial integrity and operational effectiveness of the organization through accurate accounting, detailed financial analysis, and insightful reporting. This position will split time between traditional accounting duties (approximately 20%) and financial and percentage-of-completion (POC) analysis (approximately 80%), with a strong emphasis on maintaining proper internal controls and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and percentage-of-completion accounting (ASC 606) principles.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, JD Edwards, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively across teams.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative reasoning skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to interpret complex financial data and present clear, actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ownership of results.
  • Collaborative mindset with a strong commitment to process improvement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting or financial analysis experience, ideally within a project-based or construction/manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with month-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Support general ledger maintenance, ensuring accuracy and proper classification of transactions.
  • Oversee or assist with accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes to ensure timely and accurate recording.
  • Partner with the VP of Finance to ensure compliance with GAAP and internal financial policies.
  • Participate in internal and external audit support activities.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze percentage-of-completion accounting reports, ensuring project revenue and cost recognition align with company policy and contract terms.
  • Conduct job cost reviews and variance analysis to evaluate project profitability, progress, and financial performance.
  • Collaborate with operations, project management, and leadership to analyze financial trends and identify risks or opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain financial models, forecasts, and dashboards to support business decision-making.
  • Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), including margin analysis, utilization, and cost efficiency metrics.
  • Support strategic initiatives by providing insightful analysis on cash flow, capital investment, and profitability.
  • Maintain and enforce financial controls across general ledger, AP, AR, and project accounting functions.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, including proper documentation and review procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance process efficiency, automation, and control structure within accounting systems.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
