About The Position

As a part of Corporate Accounting, this position supports and manages in various aspects of the preparation of the global consolidated financial statements and related information for the company. Consolidations tasks include, but are not limited to, the coordination, planning, preparation, analysis and presentation of the global consolidated financial statements and related reporting in accordance with US GAAP, managing Tyson’s consolidations systems and account mapping, maintaining various corporate related accounts including equity, debt, income tax, cash and intercompany and preparing and reviewing of journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analyses and other financial schedules. In addition, this position will also support, facilitate and/or lead various aspects of the Company’s Finance Transformation efforts, drive process improvement, develop and mentor team members, ensure process documentation and controls compliance within group, work on cross-functional projects, be a key contact to other functions with financial reporting matters. This position works with internal and external auditors, domestic and international business units and our various corporate functions such as treasury, tax, payroll, external financial reporting and benefits accounting, technical accounting, controls and enablement finance. A successful candidate will need to have strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work in a high-pressure team environment, handle multiple tasks and react quickly to problems and issues. Further, building and maintaining effective working relationships with various levels in the organization and being a champion of Tyson’s mission, core values, and team behaviors (the RIGHT behaviors) are critical.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in an academic field directly related and essential to this job (Accounting or Finance degree preferred).
  • Experience: 5 plus years of related experience preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills and the ability to lead, manage and interact professionally with a diverse team of resources, required.
  • Computer Skills: Working knowledge of SAP and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel. Experience with consolidation software applications preferred.
  • Special Skills: Certified Public Accountant preferred, but not required.
  • Strong leadership skills are crucial to this position.
  • A good working knowledge of and ability to research GAAP accounting standards is necessary.
  • Excellent relationship management with all levels of internal and external contacts is also needed, along with experience managing direct reports and managing teams through large projects.
  • Supervisory: Supervises 1 to 3 direct reports.
  • Travel: 1 to 5 domestic and or international trips per year.
