Manager Accounting Policy & Research
About The Position
This role is located at our headquarters in Juno Beach, FL and reports directly to the Director/Manager of Accounting Policy and Research. The position supports all NextEra Energy, Inc. entities, including Florida Power & Light Company and NextEra Energy Resources, and serves as a technical accounting advisor to ensure consistent interpretation and application of relevant accounting literature for current and proposed transactions. The role partners with management to evaluate the accounting implications of alternative deal structures and supports business units on significant and non-routine transactions through technical accounting research and analysis, utilizing a variety of research resources, including artificial intelligence. Responsibilities also include reviewing and approving accounting policy matters, addressing accounting issues and policy changes, and keeping senior management informed of proposed accounting standard updates and their potential impact on the Company’s financial statements. In addition, this position will oversee and lead the implementation of new accounting standards.Job OverviewThis job manages the technical accounting research function to ensure that all company entities are appropriately and consistently applying accounting literature to current and proposed transactions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s - Accounting/Finance
- Experience: 10+ years
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

Responsibilities
- Supervises the work and conclusions of direct reports while continuing to perform research on significant transactions
- Works with Management to consider the accounting implications of alternative deal structures
- Manages significant company-wide accounting projects and provides monthly reporting of significant accounting issues to management
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
