The City of Charlotte is seeking a Management Analyst for a grant-funded position within the Crime Analysis Division of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD). This role is crucial in supporting the department's efforts to leverage technology and analytical processes to provide timely and targeted information related to crime patterns and trends. The CMPD is responsible for a jurisdiction covering over 400 square miles and serving a population of approximately 900,000 citizens. The analyst will primarily support the Crime Gun Intelligence Center Integration Initiative, working closely with data analytics specialists to enhance the department's capabilities in crime analysis. In this position, the analyst will be responsible for conducting research and data collection related to criminal cases, assisting in identifying suspects, and compiling NIBIN lead workups. The role requires strong research and analytical skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio. The analyst will work in a team environment but must also be self-directed, exercising independent judgment and initiative. Interaction with various levels of sworn and civilian police personnel is a key aspect of the job. The analyst will organize and maintain sensitive and non-sensitive data/files to support reporting on performance metrics and case outcomes. They will develop comprehensive profiles of victims and suspects, compile and analyze findings, and write detailed reports based on data analysis. The position also involves preparing crime and intelligence bulletins and attending briefings and meetings within patrol and investigative divisions. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field and have experience in crime analysis and criminal intelligence methodologies.
