Employees in this position are responsible for managing the day-to-day administrative operations of a clinic in a correctional facility. Persons in this position must exercise a high degree of initiative to perform varied administrative duties involving the use of independent judgment, analytical experience and professional skills. Responsible for all employees assigned to their area of direction. Work performed in a medical office located inside of the prison facility and requires the ability to meet deadlines, lead and attend regular meetings and occasional travel. Additionally, work requires considerable contact and collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders and daily interaction with TDCJ unit Warden(s). Partner with the Regional Operations Director to develop and execute initiatives that align with the organization’s mission and goals. Provide day-to-day leadership for department staff, including hiring, onboarding, training, evaluating, and mentoring team members to achieve high performance and engagement. Exercise sound judgment and independent decision-making to resolve complex issues and drive continuous improvement. Ensure team compliance with healthcare plans, clinical objectives, and organizational benchmarks. Maintain full compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements, including HIPAA, ACA, and CLIA standards. Oversee audit preparedness and implement action plans to maintain compliance excellence. Lead and facilitate process improvement projects that strengthen operational efficiency, teamwork, and patient outcomes. Plan, coordinate, and direct management and financial operations for the assigned region or unit. Oversee payroll accuracy, employee leave management, personnel documentation, purchasing, and travel compliance. Analyze and present key performance data to identify trends, support decision-making, and inform leadership reporting. Collaborate with cross-functional leaders (Medical Director, Dental Director, Nursing, Behavioral Health, Managed Care Leadership, HR, and TDCJ partners) to ensure seamless operations and resource alignment. Serve as the regional operations lead in the absence of the Regional Operations Director. Mentor and support new Facility Health Administrators (FHAs), serving as a go-to resource for training, guidance, and operational consistency. Serve as the designated Health Authority for the unit, collaborating with the responsible physician for clinical decisions.
