About The Position

Responsible for operating X-ray equipment that produces radiographs designated areas of the body for diagnostic purposes. Assists physicians in performing the imaging procedures, reviews and correlates patients' previous reports, and acts as a point of contact for various medical departments. Ensures proper documentation during the exam as required.

Responsibilities

  • Positions patient and changes immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician.
  • Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
  • Moves x-ray equipment into specified position and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors such as time and distance basis knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques and protocols.
  • Practices radiation protection techniques using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factors to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
  • Participates in QA/QC initiatives as well as MQSA process.
  • Specializes in production of screening and diagnostic x-rays for detection of breast tumors.
  • Performs Bone Density exams.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
