About The Position

Overview Provides diagnostic imaging services according to accepted standards and protocols and assures patient safety during procedures. Responsibilities General Diagnostic Procedures: Performs all mammography examinations following policies and procedures established by the department. Prepares and positions patients for mammograms. Provides care and communication to patients before, during and after the procedure. Uses all equipment properly and in a manner that minimizes hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients. Uses radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety of all patients and staff. Explains procedures and responds to questions appropriately. Ensures that all images are clear and of good diagnostic quality, adjusting equipment as necessary. Documents patient history, including any relevant information which might affect the interpretation of the mammogram. Maintain and cleans the mammography equipment with the appropriate solutions. Communicates any pertinent information with radiologists and other healthcare professionals as necessary. Maintains working knowledge of the PAC’s System. Maintains a clean and orderly environment. Special Diagnostic Testing: Demonstrates competency in performing all procedures and use of the equipment for Mammography, as appropriate and assigned. Keeps dose as low as possible to achieve diagnostic exam. Administrative: Uses computer to access reports, medical history, prior imaging, etc. Follows protocols for releasing of images and obtaining prior imaging studies. Assists with administrative responsibilities of the department to include scheduling appointments, answering the phone, etc. Performs all quality controls procedures weekly in the absence of the QC technologist. Maintains licensing and continuing education credits. Able to teach/aid students and new staff. Qualifications Graduate of a Radiology Technology training program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JCERT) Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent. Requirements

  • Graduate of a Radiology Technology training program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JCERT)
  • Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent.
  • Certification in Mammography
  • 0-1 year of experience
  • REQUIRED LICENSE(S): Radiographer NH (MIRT1060) OR Radiation Therapist NH (MIRT1057) OR Medical Imaging/Rad Ther - NH (MIRT1001)
  • REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS: Radiologic Technologist - Mammography (RT - M) within 365 days
