About The Position

AIMS Locum Tenens is hiring a qualified Mammography Technologist to provide professional mammographic imaging services at Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center (ATAMMC) . The technologist will deliver high-quality diagnostic and screening breast imaging, focusing on early detection of breast cancer and related conditions. This position requires close collaboration with physicians and adherence to strict safety, documentation, and regulatory standards including MQSA and ACR.

Requirements

  • Certificate or Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology.
  • Graduate from a JRCERT-accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • ARRT Mammography (M) certification is required .
  • Minimum one year of full-time experience performing mammography in the past two years .
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license or certification in a U.S. state or territory (if required by local state law).
  • Strong understanding of MQSA, ACR, and radiation safety regulations.
  • Expertise in digital mammography techniques and breast imaging positioning.
  • Skilled in communicating with patients about procedures and calming anxious individuals.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation and image records.
  • Comfortable working with PACS and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Must be fully vaccinated per DHA policy, including COVID-19 and influenza
  • TB test and respirator fit testing required
  • Must successfully complete a federal background check and obtain access to military systems
  • HIPAA and privacy regulation training mandatory

Responsibilities

  • Provide services strictly within the scope of privileges granted by the MTF.
  • Follow DoD, facility, and departmental protocols for patient care, safety, and documentation.
  • Perform screening and diagnostic mammography using approved imaging protocols.
  • Operate and maintain mammography equipment, including performing daily QC tests and logging results per MQSA standards.
  • Accurately position patients and ensure proper image capture with minimal retakes.
  • Explain procedures and address patient concerns to ensure a comfortable and informed imaging experience.
  • Record imaging information into the electronic medical record and PACS system.
  • Collaborate with radiologists for image review, urgent case flagging, or retakes.
  • Monitor patients during procedures and recognize and respond to adverse events.
  • Assist with ACR re-accreditation efforts and maintain documentation of compliance.
  • Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate maintenance as needed.
