About The Position

The Mammography Technologist operates x-ray equipment and performs a variety of mammography-related diagnostic procedures. Individual must maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and exposure technique. Department Highlights: Deliver efficient, comfortable screening experiences using advanced digital mammography technology. Patient-focused team Cohesive and friendly environment The Mammography Technologist is expected to practice safe procedures and adheres to radiation safety measures under the supervision of the Radiology supervisor or the Radiologist. Specific duties may include but are not limited to: Complete patient education regarding the exam Perform diagnostic or screening mammogram as ordered Prepares for and assists the Radiologist in the completion of intricate mammography examinations, including breast biopsies.

Requirements

  • Completion of a two year approved School of Radiologic Technology
  • One-year full-time experience as a Mammography Technologist with documentation of clinical experience and 3D required
  • Valid state radiology registration as required by state law
  • Registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification
  • MQSA/FDA- 15 CEU's every 3 years, 200-documented case numbers every 2 years.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend medical terminology

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of database software, eRad, Sectra RIS/PACS software is preferred
  • Experience with diagnostic procedures such as ultrasound core and stereotactic biopsies is preferred

  • Ability to effectively communicate to patients the procedures and educate women about the role of regular mammography in preventative breast health
  • Ability to effectively communicate on an individual and small group basis to doctors, patients, and other employees
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and sometimes complicated, written or oral instructions
  • Must maintain patient-first focus at all times and exhibit outstanding customer service skills
  • Consistently practice excellent mammography positioning and exposure technique
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned
  • Complete patient education regarding the exam
  • Perform diagnostic or screening mammogram as ordered
  • Prepares for and assists the Radiologist in the completion of intricate mammography examinations, including breast biopsies.
