About The Position

Performs routine screening and diagnostic mammography procedures, or routine screening and at least two other modalities such as x-ray, EKG or bone densitometry, or performs screening mammography in a mobile environment according to established practices and procedures. Essential Functions: Performs routine screening and diagnostic mammography procedures, or routine screening and at least two other modalities such as x-ray, EKG or bone densitometry, or performs screening mammography in a mobile environment. Obtains patient history, explains routine procedures and addresses patient concerns. If performing bone densitometry exams, positions patients safely while performing scans of the spine, hip and/or forearm. Under the direction of a Team Leader, is responsible for assisting in the training of other technologists, certifying that techs meet competencies. Maintains department quality assurance programs. Positions patients safely and comfortably and explains basic procedures. Prepares and maintains written documentation as required by the profession and the department. Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations. Prepares, maintains and scans appropriate documentation required by the department. Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment. Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s). Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required. Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and workshops. Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation. Supervises, assists and evaluates students in the clinical education setting. Requests and orders supplies, as necessary, to keep materials on hand at all times. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work areas and/or patient rooms.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • 3 years Relevant experience.
  • Registered Technologist-Mammography - ARRT Upon Hire Required
  • Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
  • Accredited program in radiologic technology and training in mammography procedures. Upon Hire Required

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Bone Densitometry Technologist Upon Hire Preferred
