Mammography T echnologists operate a mammography unit to produce images of the breasts for diagnostic purposes under a physician's direction. They explain the procedure to patients, position and immobilize the patient's breast in the unit and observe the scanning process. This involves monitoring the video display of the area being scanned and adjusting the density or contrast to improve picture quality. Mammography T echnologists then review and evaluate the film or image recording plate to determine if the images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes. Throughout this whole process , M ammography T echnologists use radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure the safety of patients and staff. A PRN caregiver in this position works day s between 7 : 00AM - 6 :00PM.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiology program
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT)(M)
  • Florida license as a General Radiographer (RAD)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Knowledge of Federal and State regulations

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of experience as an Imaging Technologist in an acute care imaging setting

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties directly involved with a variety of technical procedures applying ionizing radiation for the purpose of detecting pathology.
  • Regulate the equipment used to expose the x-ray film and develop and organize films.
  • Operate equipment safely and maintain ALARA standards while performing all types of procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of clinical procedures, equipment and policies - Hospital and Department - that are necessary for job performance.
  • Perform in accordance with Corporate Compliance policy and adhere to its terms and conditions.
  • Coordinate and answer questions regarding scheduling, patient information, networking and informatics.
  • Effectively complete and ensure that all electronic data is sent to its appropriate destination .
  • Inspect equipment to ensure proper orientation and contact service if necessary.
  • Provide copies of imaging studies in a timely manner .
  • Perform routine imaging procedures according to the policy/protocol manual and written orders.
