As a Mammography Technologist II you will work under the guidance of a radiologist, performs mammography as well as advanced procedures to generate imaging information for the diagnosis and subsequent treatment of patients in accordance with MQSA, state regulations, and with health centers’ established policies and procedures. Also performs advanced level procedures such as stereotactic biopsies, breast ultrasound and/or other mammography intervention procedures under guidance of certified radiologist. Operates equipment safely and maintains ALARA standards while performing mammography and any other types of radiological procedures.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalency certificate (e.g. GED, HiSET, TASC Test) from an accredited institution or governmental unit
  • Graduate of an accredited radiography program
  • ARRT or ARDMS certified if performing breast ultrasound
  • MQSA-qualified in mammography in order to perform specified procedures such as the stereotactic biopsy
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required based on specialty
  • Passed the ARRT exam in Mammography
  • 2+ years of experience as a mammography technologist
  • Licensed in Radiography for 1+ years
  • 1+ years performing specified advanced procedures (e.g., stereotactic biopsy or needle localizations or Breast ultrasound)
  • Proven knowledge of Mammography equipment and MQSA and ACR regulations
  • Proven knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR), PACS and associated imaging equipment

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Proven general knowledge of healthcare delivery services
  • Ability to learn and master new tasks and equipment related to breast image quality and safety
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with people of various diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to complete Mammography exams in a timely manner even under stressful condition

Responsibilities

  • Confirms appropriate clinical data, obtains patient history, and uses the lowest possible dose to provide high quality images for the interpreting radiologist
  • Provides for the emotional, physical well-being, and safety of the patient while maintaining strict standards of patient confidentiality
  • Communicate effectively with patients as well as other members of the health care team
  • Recognizes and effectively communicates equipment problems in a timely manner to the Department Supervisor
  • For every location worked, provides on-going CEU documentation to support licensure requirement
  • Continuing education and continuing experience requirements as defined by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) must be maintained
