Under the direction of a Radiologist, performs both general mammography imaging procedures as well as advanced procedures to generate imaging information for the diagnosis and subsequent treatment of patients. Performs mammography exams in accordance with MQSA, state regulations, and health centers' established policies and procedures. Also performs advanced level procedures such as stereotactic biopsies, breast ultrasound and/or other mammography intervention procedures under guidance of certified radiologist. Operates equipment safely and maintains ALARA standards while performing mammography and any other types of radiological procedures. Reports to either a Radiology Supervisor or Regional Radiology Manager.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalency certificate from an accredited institution.
  • Graduate of an accredited radiography program.
  • Licensed in Radiography for a minimum of one year.
  • Passed the ARRT exam in Mammography.
  • MQSA-qualified in mammography.
  • Continuing education and experience requirements as defined by ARRT must be maintained.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required based on specialty.
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a mammography technologist, with at least 1 year performing specified advanced procedures.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR), PACS and associated imaging equipment.

Responsibilities
