About The Position

The position is for a part-time casual role in Imaging Services at Advocate Health. The clinic operates from 6:30 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. The primary responsibilities include performing basic and intermediate screening and diagnostic mammography examinations, reviewing patient medical records, and ensuring the accuracy of imaging techniques. The role also involves post-processing images, maintaining records, and providing pertinent patient history to Radiologists. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care and adhere to departmental policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin.
  • Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
  • Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology.
  • No experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) and basic radiation safety.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient service skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Intermediate computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Competently performs basic and intermediate screening and diagnostic mammography examinations.
  • Reviews patient's medical record to obtain necessary clinical information including patient history, lab results, and physician orders.
  • Obtains breast health history on each patient.
  • Performs scans and identifies breast anatomy, distinguishing normal from abnormal.
  • Adapts imaging techniques to improve diagnostic quality.
  • Evaluates the mammographic image for positioning, technique, artifacts, and compression.
  • Repeats images as necessary and compares requisitions to physician orders.
  • Post-processes images as directed and accurately identifies and labels images.
  • Provides Radiologists with pertinent patient history when reviewing films.
  • Maintains records in accordance with various regulatory agencies.
  • Enters patient and study information into the radiology information system.
  • Documents billing codes of procedures performed.
  • Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties.
