About The Position

Tanner Clinic has an immediate opening for a Mammography Technician Certified position located in Layton, UT. This position is PRN (as needed) and involves collaborating with radiologists to ensure that breast imaging is conducted safely and effectively. The technician will explain procedures to patients, adjust equipment, position patients, and provide adequate radiation protection. Responsibilities also include compressing breasts for clear imaging, developing radiologic films, and discussing results with patients. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Requirements

• Successful completion of an accredited course in radiologic technology or associate degree in radiologic technology.
• Minimum of 28 classroom hours for initial mammographer training as designated by the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA).
• Minimum two years of experience in radiology imaging modalities; one year mammography experience preferred in medical practice setting.
• Current certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
• Current state permit/license as general diagnostic radiographer.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with radiologist to ensure unit is operating in a clinically safe and effective manner.
• Explains procedure to patients, including dressing in a gown before the process.
• Adjusts equipment, positions patient, and provides adequate radiation protection.
• Selects length and intensity for radiation exposure on an individual basis.
• Compresses breasts appropriately to get clear images.
• Develops radiologic film and examines for technical quality and diagnostic acceptability.
• Releases patient upon completion of exam and discusses results or explains how results will be shared later.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
