Mammography Technologist Position Type: PRN - Day Shift Benefits: 401(k) with matching Job Summary The Mammography Technologist I is responsible for performing screening and diagnostic mammography procedures to assist in the detection and diagnosis of breast diseases. This role requires a high level of technical proficiency, adherence to safety protocols, and a commitment to patient-centered care. The Mammography Technologist I works collaboratively with Radiologists and other healthcare professionals, ensuring accurate imaging and patient comfort while maintaining compliance with state, federal, and regulatory standards, including FDA/MQSA and ACR requirements. Essential Functions Performs mammography imaging procedures, ensuring high-quality screening and diagnostic images through proper positioning, technique, and compression. Adheres to safety protocols, radiation protection standards, and infection control guidelines to ensure patient and staff safety. Ensures equipment functionality and maintenance, performing routine quality control testing per ACR and FDA/MQSA requirements. Reviews physician orders and patient history, ensuring all mammography procedures are correctly ordered, verified, and acknowledged. Educates patients on breast health, self-exam techniques, and procedure expectations, addressing concerns with professionalism. Assists radiologists with specialized mammography procedures, including fine needle aspiration (FNA), needle localizations, and biopsies, while maintaining sterile technique. Prepares patients for invasive mammography-guided procedures, providing clear instructions and post-procedure care guidance. Maintains accurate documentation and image storage as required by state, federal, and accreditation regulations. Manages mammography inventory and supplies, ensuring cost-effective use and proper stock levels for daily operations. Performs other duties as assigned. Maintains regular and reliable attendance. Complies with all policies and standards.
