About The Position

Operates Mammographic, general diagnostic radiographic equipment, and ancillary support systems to perform diagnostic radiographic procedures per provider orders. This is in accordance with approved techniques, policies, and regulatory standards as established by regulatory agencies, and standards and policies set forth by the organization. Adheres to the professional standards of the NYS Department of Health, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist and the Mammography Quality Standards Act. Desired Attributes: Advanced modality specialty training BLS within 3 months of hire ARRT Certified in Mammography

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Graduate of an Accredited Radiologic Technology program
  • Advanced training in Mammography which meets MQSA standards
  • New York State Department of Health Licensure.
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Performs Mammographic procedures utilizing the principles and knowledge of anatomy, positioning, and radiographic techniques to include collimation, shielding, and exposure factors, to minimize radiation dose to the patient.
  • Performs general radiographic procedures utilizing the principles and knowledge of anatomy, positioning, and radiographic techniques, including collimation, shielding, and exposure factors, to minimize radiation dose to the patient
  • Performs specialized radiographic procedures, including fluoroscopy and interventional procedures, in the imaging department and provides services utilizing mobile equipment in support of Surgical Services, inpatient, and Emergency Services
  • Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patient, family, and staff, and verifies pregnancy status if appropriate per department and regulatory standards.
  • Follows organizational standards, including but not limited to patient identification, patient education, consents, order verification, and infection control
  • Participates in all QA/QC procedures as designated and maintains standards of these programs. This includes processes involving radiographic equipment, image quality, documentation, and radiation dose reporting and control
  • Provides clinical instruction, supervision, and evaluation to Radiographic Program Students
