About The Position

SUMMARY: Under direction of the Radiology Supervisor performs procedures to assist in a diagnosis of disease and injuries. Works effectively with patients, patients’ families and maintains a cooperative relationship with interdepartmental personnel. Radiology Tech Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Performs radiographic procedures as prescribed by a physician. Determines proper technique through the selection of voltage, current, and exposure time. Positions patients for the proper view of the affected area. Instructs patients as to the proper physiological requirements for the procedure. Prepares contrast media and administers to patients either intravenously or through other body cavities. Maintains technique charts in rooms in compliance with State law. Teaches radiologic technology students the proper procedures, X-ray physics, equipment operation, anatomy, and the general duties and responsibilities of a Radiographic Technologist. Operates portable radiographic equipment for the performance of procedures throughout the hospital including the recovery room, operating room, and the emergency room. Provides preventive maintenance to equipment and monitors its operation. Contacts nursing station to verify patient schedules, medications, and special requirements or restrictions. Assesses the patient’s condition prior to administering a contrast media or performing the radiographic procedure. Charts patient medications and completes X-ray requests for billing. Actively participates in the quality-assurance monitoring and recording efforts of the department. Maintain and promote a positive attitude toward clients and their treatment programs. Comply with the personnel policies, department policies and CHS Code of Conduct. Other duties may be assigned. Mammography Tech Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Performs a variety of tasks involving the operation of mammography radiographic equipment and other equipment/devices as appropriate. Position patients, using immobilization when necessary. Calculates exposure factors. Demonstrates proficiency in performing all breast imaging procedures, including additional, spot compression and magnification images. Performs the quality control functions related to mammography. Ensures that all patient communications required by MQSA/FDA/ACR are sent in a timely manner and recorded in the mammography records. This includes reports, recall letters, reminder letters, biopsy reports etc. Evaluates image data for diagnostic quality obtaining additional images as needed. Explains procedures to patients. Charge mammography procedures and supplies in hospital billing system. Operates current EMR (Meditech) proficiently Provide orientation to new and student mammographer’s. Assist in maintenance and compilation of statistical data including; biopsy reports, surgical reports, etc. Actively participates in the quality-assurance monitoring and recording efforts of the department. Maintains all necessary documentation for ACR and FDA accreditation processes. Must maintain requirements for Mammography registration including 15 CEUs in Mammography every 3 years and required annual number of mammogram procedures Work on the next day’s mammography schedule by: Locating prior exams / sending them to radiologists; ensure old reports are available; prepare prior exams for radiologists by marking for comparison; review next schedule for orders if needed; etc. Actively participate in all aspects of imaging department when there is no mammography-related work: i.e., answer phones; burn CDs; log in patients; scheduling; etc. Performs all duties assigned to them by Lead Mammography Technologist QualificationsQualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an ARRT-approved educational program.
  • Registration with State of Kansas and ARRT.
  • Current ARRT Registration
  • Current Kansas license
  • Current BLS certification
  • Mammography certification
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and address questions from residents, family members, medical staff, other employees, and the general public.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
