Job Summary: Document shielding on all patients 13 years old and younger. Perform all ordered radiographic/mammo examinations and properly position and instruct patients for the exams. Assist radiologist as needed with fluoroscopy and sterile procedures. Perform mobile and surgical radiology procedures safely and accurately. Protect self and others from undue radiation exposure. Verify correct images are in place for interpretations. Transport patients to department and properly communicate with nursing staff for patient handoff communication. Properly track patients through computer system to ensure proper completion on exams. Properly acquire acceptable and diagnostic exposures for interpretation. Assist in care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies. Keep items necessary for performance of job well-stocked and notify manager when supplies need to be ordered. Keep director informed of any unusual concern, situation, or condition relative to staff, patients, or physicians. Make suggestions for ways to improve operating methods and procedures. Report occurrences of medical/healthcare errors and actions taken to improve patient safety both in response to actual occurrences and to proactive findings as outlined in the patient safety plan. Demonstrate and encourage team behavior and exceptional patient/guest experiences. Uphold and promote patient safety and quality. QualificationsEducation: Registered mammography technologist with experience in digital mammography required. Experience: One to three years of work experience in diagnostic mammography preferred in addition to 3-6 months of on-the-job training in mammography. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and knowledge of diagnostic radiology principles and procedures as well as operation and maintenance of radiology equipment normally acquired through completion of a two-year post high school training in an approved school of radiologic technology. Additional Skills/Abilities: Must have basic computer skills. Must be task-orientated, organized and familiar with the operation of all x-ray equipment. Analytical skills are necessary to determine method of providing radiographs based on the specifics of individual case, to utilize knowledge of techniques, and to provide technical advice for other hospital employees.
