About The Position

Central Maine Healthcare is seeking a Mammography Technologist to join our Breast Care Center team! This is a per diem position. Central Maine Healthcare is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving 400,000 people living in central, western and Midcoast Maine. CMH's hospital facilities include Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Bridgton Hospital and Rumford Hospital. CMH also supports Central Maine Medical Group, a primary and specialty care practice organization. Other system services include the Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute, a regional trauma program, LifeFlight of Maine's southern Maine base, the Central Maine Comprehensive Cancer Center and other high-quality clinical services. Requirements

  • High school graduate; BS degree preferred.
  • Graduation from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART) in radiography and certified/board eligible in mammography.
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification required within one month of expiration.
  • Thorough understanding of anatomy and positioning.

Responsibilities

  • Perform screening and diagnostic mammographic procedures and ensure patient safety protocols.
  • Act as the first line interface with patients in the successful accomplishment of their total breast care.
  • Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.
  • Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards.
  • Assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure and make appropriate physician contact for intervention.
  • Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety.
  • Handle equipment safely and position patients accordingly.
  • Practice medical and surgical asepsis.
  • Keep procedure room clean and neat, making minor equipment adjustments as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining basic records and reports.
  • Interact professionally with patients, families, and staff.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of facility policies and the functions of other departments.
  • Adhere to local fire and safety regulations.
  • Provide Breast Health Education to patients.
  • Participate in Health Fairs and public education activities.
  • Compile and maintain quality assurance information for mammography.
  • Provide care appropriate to the condition and age of the patient.
  • Foster an environment of exceptional personal service.
