Position Summary : A professional caregiver who works independently under the guidance of the Women’s Diagnostic Center Supervisor. The Mammographer is responsible for the performance of screening, diagnostic and invasive breast examinations in accordance with established procedures and policies in the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease in adult and geriatric patients. Uses independent judgment in determining the need for radiologist intervention and takes additional views if needed. Follows all regulatory guidelines and MQSA guidelines. Assures accurate billing and file documentation and records information related to exams is entered into department computer system. Performs other activities in support of clinical team members when not engaged in imaging activities. The Mammographer provides services in a manner consistent with TCMC’s mission and values.

Requirements

  • Must provide documentation of performance of 25 supervised mammograms from an accredited mammography facility, required.
  • Must provide documentation of 8 continuing education unit in digital mammography, required.
  • Experience in digital interventional procedures, required.
  • Good customer service skills, required.
  • Graduate of an AMA approved Radiologic Technology Program, required (verified through licensure).
  • CRTM (California Registered Technologist Mammography) license, required.
  • ARRT (American Radiologic Registry Technologist) license, required.
  • Current BLS certification, required upon hire; American Heart Association Healthcare Provider.

Nice To Haves

  • ARRTM (American Registry of Radiologic Technology Mammography), preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements.
  • Perform screening, diagnostic, and invasive breast exams in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Exercises independent judgment in determining need for taking additional views or soliciting radiologist intervention.
  • Assures accurate billing and file documentation.
  • Records exam related information into computer database systems.
  • Supports other clinical areas when not engaged in imaging activities.
  • Stereotactic Biopsy needle tests and BX set ups.
  • Pre-surgical breast needle localizations.
