About The Position

Works under the direction of the director, assistant director, and supervisor to perform a variety of activities related to the transportation of patients, specimens, and equipment to and from the Imaging Services department.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (must provide diploma or official transcripts if hired)
  • BLS ( Basic Life Support) from the American Heart Association
  • Exposure Category I: Expected duties have routine potential for exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues.
  • Other potential hazards: exposure to chemical, biological, and radioactive substances; possible exposure to hostile individuals.
  • Possible exposure to blood product and radiation
  • Lifting equipment up to 50lbs, pushing equipment up to 150lbs, and assisting with the movement of an adult patient weighing over 300lbs
  • Ability to safely lift and physically manipulate patients
  • Ability to focus, follow instructions, and demonstrate visual and auditory acuity during procedures
  • Standing and walking for the duration of the entire scheduled shift

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients and provides general support to the staff and operations of the mammography department.
  • Operates assigned equipment and perform all procedures in a safe manner while delivering high quality service to patients and customers.
  • Reconfirms patient identification using two unique identifiers (Name and DOB) and verifies procedure requested. Verifies female patient pregnancy status when appropriate.
  • Accesses and provides lab values to performing technologist.
  • Recognizes significant clinical information and historical facts, from the patient and from the medical record, which may impact the examination.
  • Monitors patient and equipment during procedures, accurately documents exam times (start and stop), patient reactions or problems, and reports concerns or issues immediately to supervisor.
  • Documents patient and exam occurrences in the appropriate Imaging software database, to include exam start and complete times.
  • Communicates technical information to non-technical personnel.
  • Utilizes effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Complies with all Federal, State, organizational, and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Regularly applies AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) as well as other evidence-based behaviors when taking care of patients. Shows empathy care to patients and family members present.
  • Actively helps the department meet the identified Patient Satisfaction goal.
  • Demonstrates regular attendance and participation at scheduled department and team meetings. Absences must be communicated as soon as practically possible.
  • Ensures all licensure, competencies, training, and education are completed in a timely manner.
  • Participates in and encourage continuous process improvement.
