About The Position

Performs and produces quality mammograms for patients. Assists radiologist with invasive procedures.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology to sufficiently determine area for examination.
  • Knowledge of Mammography exams and procedures
  • Knowledge of Mammography equipment operation and testing.
  • Ability to acquire working knowledge of RIS system, EPIC EMR, PowerShare, PACS, Qgenda, and PenRad.
  • Knowledge of safety hazards common to radiology including equipment, body mechanics, and patient movement.
  • Skill in properly positioning patients to provide quality imaging.
  • Skill in trouble shooting equipment operation and performing simple adjustments.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to apply written guidelines and standardized work practices.
  • Ability to identify problems and to communicate clearly.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited radiologic technology program.
  • Current Radiography (R) certification from with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Current Mammography (M) certification preferred or must obtain Mammography credential within one year of hire.
  • Current license with the New Mexico Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy program.
  • Current CPR certification or obtained within three months of date of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience preferred or recommendation from training program.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patient for examination including taking a medical history and answering questions about the exam.
  • Performs Mammography exams.
  • Complies with company and department polices, protocols, and procedures.
  • Completes PenRad, RIS and PACS entries.
  • Performs required QA/QC procedures when assigned.
  • Follows prescribed safety standards in operating radiologic equipment.
  • Responsible for care and safety of patients during the exam.
  • Maintains radiologic equipment and examination rooms. Stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies.
  • Participates in staff development and educational activities including attendance at required meetings and participating in committees as requested.
  • Maintains required credentials and licensing.
  • Adheres to the ARRT's Standard of Ethics.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
