About The Position

Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau, WI is seeking a Mammographer Technologist to join our Breast Health team! The Mammographer Technologist - Breast Sonographer provides health care services, using x-rays, to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Performs medical imaging techniques and related procedures to demonstrate breast anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention by, or at the request of, a licensed physician. Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Applies appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. Requirements

  • Knowledge of radiology standards and procedures as they relate to mammography procedures normally acquired through graduation from an approved radiology school, an associate degree in Radiology, or sufficient on-the-job training to meet ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification requirements.
  • Meets FDA Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) mandated requirements.
  • ARRT (R) required.
  • ARRT (M) required.
  • State of Wisconsin Licensed Radiographer license (WI Locations only)
  • Current BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire - All clinical personnel in identified job codes are required to maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) training through independent study, online manikin, and knowledge testing. An acceptable training program is the Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider course from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross Professional Rescuer Program with AED.   • Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients who may be under physical and/or emotional stress.
  • Meets and maintains the FDA Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) requirements.
  • Analytical skills are necessary to acquire and effectively utilize knowledge of mammography techniques and methods in order to obtain quality images.
  • Site specific competencies in protocols, equipment, computer systems and applications.
  • LICENSED RADIOGRAPHER (STATE)
  • CPR or BLS
  • ARRT-RADIOGRAPHY
  • ARRT-MAMMOGRAPHY

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of one year of clinical experience in diagnostic imaging is beneficial to enhance and develop skills preferred but not required.
