About The Position

The Mammographer II provides mammography imaging services and stereo procedures, and/or mammography imaging services and bone density procedures. This role involves operating equipment, preparing and positioning patients, and selecting appropriate anatomic and technical parameters. Key responsibilities include explaining procedures to patients, educating them on the importance of regular mammography for preventive breast health, and evaluating images for technical quality such as density contrast, definition, and distortion. The Mammographer II must adhere to radiation safety procedures and guidelines, ensure the prompt submission of high-quality images and documents to PACS, and report any equipment malfunctions. Additionally, the role requires assisting in maintaining a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, and dressing rooms, while working in a constant state of alertness and safety.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Radiology Technology program
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • ARRT-R Radiography - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • ARRT-M Mammography - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Radiologic Technologists - Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) (for Illinois work location)
  • Radiologic Technologists – Temporary Accreditation - Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) (for Illinois work location)
  • ARRT-BD Bone Density - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (required if not completing stereo procedures)
  • Radiographer, Licensed - Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (for Wisconsin work location)

Responsibilities

  • Operates equipment and performs various mammography related procedures.
  • Prepares and positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters.
  • Explains procedures and educates patients about the role of regular mammography in preventive breast health.
  • Develops and evaluates the image for technical quality such as density contrast, definition, and distortion.
  • Follows radiation safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Ensures prompt submission of all high-quality images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correctly marked and patient data/history).
  • Ensures equipment is properly functioning.
  • Reports potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel.
  • Assists in maintaining a clean, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms and any other areas in department.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
