About The Position

Operates mammography equipment to produce radiographic images of the breast for screening exams under the general supervision of a radiologist.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
  • Must have completed or will complete within nine months from hire date, 40 hours documented training specific to mammography and 8 hours modality specific digital training in accordance with Mammograph Quality Standards Act.
  • Registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and must be Certified in Mammography within nine months from date of hire.
  • 0 - 6 months related experience.
  • Competent to perform screening mammograms on men and women of mammography age 18 - 100 years.
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge of mammography unit and basic positioning skills.
  • Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Ability to be detail oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data.

Responsibilities

  • Performs timely screening mammography, with less than 5% repeat rate.
  • Enters accurate patient history and charges off exam.
  • Explains exam in a manner patient can understand, gains patient cooperation and reduces patient anxiety.
  • Complies with all departmental and hospital policies.
  • Performs other duties as required by lead technologist or manager.
