About The Position

The Mammogram Technologist position at Bronson Breast Health involves performing radiographic studies of breast tissue under minimal supervision, according to established policies and procedures. The role includes opening and closing the unit each day, preparing paperwork related to exams, and performing other related duties as assigned. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree required.
  • Registered in Diagnostic Radiology required.
  • Registered in Mammography through ARRT must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer relations skills.
  • Basic math, grammar, and spelling skills.
  • Ability to cope with confrontation and handle multiple priorities in a stressful situation.
  • Ability to work alone and demonstrate a high degree of patience.
  • Ability to adapt to shift work and work in close and crowded areas.
  • Ability to cope with a high level of stress and make fast decisions under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Open the unit each morning, turning on, preparing, and testing equipment.
  • Collect and organize paperwork and supplies for the day's scheduled exams.
  • Inform supervisor or physicist of need for repair or additional testing.
  • Greet patients, take a brief history, and familiarize them with the exam.
  • Conduct radiographic examinations and develop quality-check resulting images.
  • Prepare patient files for review by radiologist and compile films and patient record folder.
  • Maintain the department in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Close the unit, ensuring that all materials are correctly stored and secured.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge in the field of radiography and mammography.
  • Perform duties of a radiography and ancillary functions as directed.
  • Participate in quality assurance/quality control activities as needed.
  • Assist doctors in procedures and biopsies.
  • Maintain unsupervised access to the unit medication room(s) for stocking and/or retrieving supplies.
  • Demonstrate commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
