About The Position

Produces quality screening and diagnostic mammography films and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) exams; educates patients regarding patient exams and accurately documents procedures completed and procedure codes.

Requirements

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines
  • Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations in a calm and professional manner
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and unexpected situations
  • Ability to communicate with patients, healthcare professionals, and staff to ensure a clear and accurate exchange of information
  • Proficient in the use of mammography and DEXA equipment
  • Required: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) - Radiology (R)
  • California Radiologic Technologist (CRT) license, Radiography and Mammography
  • American Heart Association BLS.
  • Required: Graduate of a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) approved School of Radiologic Technology.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations
  • Interacts compassionately and effectively with patients, providing a Five Star experience by reducing anxieties; provides explanations of procedures and equipment, and answers questions
  • Escorts patients from the sub-wait area to the procedure room
  • Explain the procedure to the patient before beginning the exam
  • Obtains the appropriate medical history required (patient and family) before the procedure is started.
  • Explains comparative film review and obtains patient film release signature, as appropriate.
  • Performs appropriate screening and diagnostic mammography exams
  • Completes all required billing and documentation accurately and timely in EHR and PACS
  • Performs bone density screening as assigned
  • Maintains the cleanliness of all radiology equipment and rooms
  • Maintains job knowledge by the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) and state regulatory requirements
  • Follows department timekeeping procedures
  • Works at the main campus and satellite facilities
