About The Position

The Mammo Tech I performs a variety of breast imaging procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and competency. This role involves obtaining optimum quality breast images for radiologist interpretation, performing screening mammograms and diagnostic breast imaging studies, and assisting radiologists during stereotactic and ultrasound guided biopsies. The position also requires assessing patients through review of previous studies and history to determine screening versus diagnostic needs. Requirements

• Certification program - Radiologic Technology
• SCRQSA certification (Required for team members working in South Carolina)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ARRT-Radiology Registered
• ARRT-Mammo Registered
• Basic computer skills

Nice To Haves

• Prior radiology experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Obtains optimum quality breast images for radiologist interpretation while performing screening mammograms and diagnostic breast imaging studies.
• Assists radiologist during stereotactic and ultrasound guided biopsies.
• Assess patients through review of previous studies and history to determine screening versus diagnostic patients.
• Covers other functions in the department as deemed necessary.
• Provides radiation protection in accordance with proper standards as set by State and Federal boards, uses proper shielding, collimation and technical factors that minimize radiation exposure without affecting quality of images.
• Remains abreast of changes and new procedures by attending educational seminars or classes and reading job related material.
• Stays abreast of organizational, affiliate and departmental changes/updates by checking email on each shift.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
