About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the overall maintenance, repair, and operational efficiency of the mall’s facilities and equipment. This role ensures a safe, clean, and fully functional environment for tenants, customers, and staff. The technician performs preventative maintenance, responds to repair requests, and supports daily facility operations.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Must be at least 18 years of age or older
Must have a valid Driver's License
Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good communication and customer service skills
Time management and ability to prioritize tasks
Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and standing for extended periods
Must not have a fear of heights
Ability to access and maneuver in confined spaces

Nice To Haves

Technical certification in electrical, HVAC, or related field preferred.
2+ years of maintenance experience in commercial or retail facilities preferred.
Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals is a plus.

Responsibilities

Perform routine inspections of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and mechanical systems.
Complete preventative maintenance tasks according to schedule.
Troubleshoot and repair facility equipment and building components.
Replace lighting, ceiling tiles, flooring, fixtures, and hardware as needed.
Maintain common areas, restrooms, food court areas, and exterior grounds.
Diagnose and repair minor electrical issues (outlets, breakers, lighting systems).
Assist with HVAC system monitoring and minor repairs.
Maintain (in coordination with contracted vendors) automatic doors.
Monitor fire alarm and sprinkler systems.
Ensure compliance with local safety codes and regulations.
Conduct safety inspections and report hazards.
Respond promptly to emergency maintenance situations.
Maintain proper documentation of repairs and inspections.
Respond to tenant service requests in a timely manner.
Coordinate with external contractors and service providers when necessary.
Maintain professional communication with tenants and mall management.
Assist with parking lot upkeep and exterior lighting.
Support seasonal tasks (e.g., snow removal, storm preparation).
Ensure waste disposal areas are clean and properly maintained.
