About The Position

The Resident Director is to be a godly individual who, by life, example and instruction, assist the Deans in the Student Life Department in dorm management and training of RAs. They are also to contribute to the spiritual development of the students under their care.

  • Help them to keep a good perspective and stay focused on the philosophies and purpose of WOL Bible Institute.
  • Encourage each RA to set goals for the quarter/year
  • Encourage them to be sensitive to the students’ needs.
  • Be proactive in forecasting/solving problems.
  • Help them to set and know their priorities and to keep them.
  • Be present in devos and give feedback when needed.
  • Create an atmosphere of unity and love within the dorm.

  • Check with LRAs and RAs to ensure that their RA responsibilities are being done (ie. QT checks, cleanliness, quiet during study hours, etc.)
  • Are RAs being consistent in giving warnings and/or discipline points
  • Check to make sure RAs are talking to the students about infractions and not just “writing them up.”
  • Communication
  • Communicate with the Deans daily on issues that you would deem important for leadership to know.
  • Make sure LRAs communicate with you about their section.
  • Check weekly RA reports for:
  • Praises/prayer requests
  • Student concerns (health, grades, roommate problems, etc.)
  • Discipline problems
  • Students not in dorms at night
  • Discipline Point System Implementation
  • Data entry of violation reports
  • Weekly (on Wednesday by 12 pm) enter violation reports from your assigned dorms
  • Assign point values, if they need to be changed
  • Collaborate with Deans on offenses of a critical nature
  • Cooperate with other RDs by consistently enforcing student handbook policy
  • Monitor and follow up on students who are accumulating discipline points.
  • If necessary, schedule a deans meeting to discuss the student.
  • 25 DP’s- Follow up with student and email appropriate dean.
  • 50 DP’s- schedule meetings with deans and student.
  • Monitor those giving violations to ensure that someone is not giving out “too many” or “too few” d-points.
  • Follow up on students who do not show up for their discipline work hours and assign appropriate discipline.
  • Administrative Policy Conduct
  • Fulfill common Bible Institute responsibilities including adherence to the Statement of Faith and Standard of Conduct of Word of Life Fellowship.
  • Read and familiarize yourself with the contents of the Student Handbook.
  • Regularly check and respond to communication.
  • Follow through with the filing of all mandatory reports
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner, especially in the office
  • Adhere to office dress for all scheduled staff events (meetings, chapels, devos, etc.)
  • Be punctual
  • Be prepared for meetings
  • Be respectful of one’s office time as well as their personal property
  • Observe confidentiality regarding student’s privacy (FERPA)
  • Do not lend out your master key

  • Responsibilities outside of the Student Life Department are superseded by your job description.
  • Dating students without consultation of your respective Dean is prohibited.

Benefits

  • RDs will accrue Vacation Time at a rate of .08 per hour worked up to a total of 80 hours per year. These hours do not roll over one year to the next.
  • You will be able to see your accrued vacation hours and request time off through our payroll app (Paycom)
  • RDs will accrue sick time at a rate of .03333 per hour worked up to 56 total hours of sick time. These hours rollover but never exceed 56.
  • You will be able to see your accrued sick hours and request time off through our payroll app (Paycom)
  • If you average at least 30 hours of work per week from November 1 through October 31, you will be eligible for WOL’s health insurance in the coming calendar year
  • WOL health insurance only covers the employee, not the employee’s family in the case of a married RD
  • Housing is provided by WOL free of charge to RD staff members
  • Single RDs will be required to live on-campus in a dormitory
  • Married RDs will have the option to live off-campus at the Pines property or on-campus if proper accommodations become available
  • All meals are provided for RD staff members free of charge through the Dining Hall.
  • Meals during school breaks are at the expense of the RDs if they choose to remain on campus as the Dining Hall will be closed.
