Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is seeking a MakerSpace Assistant Lab Technician under the Federal Work Study program. This part-time, temporary position is designed to provide students with essential support in a collaborative learning environment. The primary responsibilities of the MakerSpace Assistant include maintaining the MakerSpace and its equipment, assisting students with their projects, and ensuring a safe and productive workspace. The role requires routine maintenance of machines, cleaning the space, and ensuring that personal protective equipment is available and utilized by all users. Additionally, the Assistant will be responsible for keeping training plans for individual machines up-to-date and operating machines for projects as needed. The MakerSpace Assistant will work up to 20 hours a week, Monday through Friday, and will be tasked with various essential functions. These include assisting students with projects and instructing them on the appropriate use of equipment and tools, maintaining the equipment and tools in the MakerSpace, and ensuring that all activities are conducted safely. The Assistant will also prepare the MakerSpace for visiting classes and other stakeholders, support MakerSpace projects, and perform cleaning and maintenance duties. This position is ideal for individuals who are eager to learn and explore new technologies and ideas while providing valuable support to their peers in a creative environment.
