PSE's Major Projects team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Major Projects Infrastructure Project Manager position! Specific details regarding the work arrangements for this position will be discussed in further detail during the interview process.Job DescriptionThe Infrastructure Program Manager is the most senior professional level position in the Project Management family. Responsible for the project management and/or development of the company’s largest, most complex and critical energy supply and utility infrastructure projects. Utilizes advanced and specialized development and/or project management skills and techniques to successfully execute assigned projects. Develops strategies for implementation and manages execution. Represents PSE to agencies, municipalities, media, key customers, and the public. Leads teams of PSE employees and contractor resources through all stages of a project from development through construction and close-out. Utilizes leading practices for project management and provides technical expertise to others regarding leading practices and approaches in managing projects, consultants, and contractors. Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety. Demonstrates commitment to conduct business honestly, ethically and consistent with our core values and Code of Conduct. Ensures duties are performed in accordance with all regulatory compliance obligations. The Program Manager will be office-based in a PSE facility (hybrid schedule) but regular overnight travel to remote job sites for monthly in-person meetings will be required. Travel is estimated to be one week per month. This job is considered “safety sensitive” as defined in RCW 49.44.240 and is subject to pre-employment drug screening that includes screening for the presence of marijuana and marijuana metabolites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Eight years of experience managing complex major projects and project budgets.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of team management and communication techniques to bring about agreement between divergent points of view. Ability to write clear, concise and direct narrative and reports.
  • Advanced project management skills and training
  • Demonstrated knowledge of utility operations, standards, and construction practices
  • Demonstrated knowledge of estimating, materials, scheduling and project accounting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills and techniques, with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms
  • Demonstrated knowledge of techniques used to involve community members in development of project affecting their community
  • Because projects vary, specific skills and competencies may vary according to the key demands of the project. For example, Project A may require special expertise in media communications while Project B may require advanced skills in contract management.
  • Mentoring and developing other Project Managers
  • Consultation to non-PMO Projects
  • Continuous Improvement of PMO processes
  • Active participation with leading initiatives
  • Liaison and support with EPMO governance activities

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing projects in excess of $100 million as an Owner or as a PM for a prime contractor.
  • Experience with utility scale generation projects – especially Wind, Solar, or Battery Storage Systems.
  • Familiarity with common construction management collaboration tools such as Procore, Infinitrac, Newforma, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Leads project planning, resourcing, staffing, supply and subcontract management, progress reporting troubleshooting and people management of large corporate projects.
  • Ensures project results meet requirements regarding technical quality, reliability, schedule and cost.
  • Monitors performance and recommends schedule changes, cost adjustments or resource changes.
  • Provides timely and accurate information and status updates to project sponsors, end users and management.
  • Manages project budget and evaluates cost and schedule impacts of project plan changes.
  • Ensures quality and consistency of project management.
  • Support emergency response work as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
