Role Overview: Reporting to the Head of Development, the Development Officer is a key member of the Advancement team responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of primarily individual donors with mid-level to major gift capacity ($15,000–$250,000). This role focuses on identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors to increase philanthropic revenue in support of Success Academy Charter Schools’ operational, programmatic, and capital priorities. The ideal candidate is a proactive, results-driven fundraiser who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and is motivated to meet or exceed ambitious goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or CFRE preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in individual giving or comparable consultative sales
  • Demonstrated success managing donor portfolios and closing gifts
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, and persuasive skills
  • Strategic, detail-oriented, and analytical with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • High standards of personal and professional integrity and alignment with SA’s mission and culture

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow an assigned portfolio of individual donors through strategic cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
  • Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual fundraising goals and performance metrics
  • Conduct donor outreach through in-person and virtual meetings, calls, proposals, events, and tailored communications
  • Identify, qualify, and upgrade prospective donors using Raiser’s Edge NXT and prospect research tools
  • Analyze donor data and performance metrics to inform strategy and prioritize fundraising opportunities
  • Collaborate with External Relations and Advancement Services on prospecting, donor engagement, and communications strategies
  • Maintain accurate donor records, track gifts and pledges, and ensure timely acknowledgements and stewardship
  • Support fundraising events, special projects, and other development initiatives as needed
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to stay informed on programs, priorities, and impact to effectively engage donors
  • Participate in evening and weekend events as required to support cultivation and fundraising efforts
