Maitre'D/Host: The primary responsibility of the Maitre’D is to ensure guests are cheerfully greeted, whether in person or on the telephone, and to seat arriving guests in a timely manner. They also serve as the restaurant’s first and last impression and must make sure guests thoroughly enjoy their dining experience. Essential Functions Greets everyone at all times. Smiles, makes eye contact and verbally greets guests and coworkers from arrival to the property through departure. Provides enthusiastic customer service while interacting with guests and co-workers. Approach and greet customer in prompt and courteous manner, thanking them upon departure. Determine guest’s requirements, (i.e., the number in a party, smoking preference, other accommodations required such as wheel chairs access, comps, etc.). Seat arriving guests as quickly as possible and determine accurate wait periods as needed. Properly rotate server stations when seating guests (requires knowledge of server abilities). Assist service staff in ensuring tables are cleared and cleaned after each use, and are set properly. Ensure all areas of the restaurant are clean, particularly entrance and podium area. Answer telephones using proper phone etiquette as described in company standards. Accepts restaurant reservations upon availability. Follow proper opening and closing procedures including necessary paperwork and reports. Manages all reservation, VIP player tracking and special request functions as well as coordinate guest comping issues with the Racino Host department. Accepts payment for orders and provides accurate change; efficiently and accurately uses point of sale system and multiple payment methods. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Work requires effective communication in English, both verbal and written form in a professional manner. Must present a neat and professional appearance. Work requires attention to detail and accuracy. Work requires interactions with customers, public and co-workers. Work requires use of a computer and/or cash register. Requires cash handling skills. Must be able to work independently and with a team. Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time and/or entire shift. Responds to visual and aural cues while adapting to extreme temperature changes. Must be able to work at a fast pace and in stressful situations. Is able to tolerate areas containing second-hand smoke, high noise levels, bright lights and dust. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Familiar with all phases and operations of the kitchen and able to have a sense of urgency and react to changing business demands express excellent communication skills. Must be able to maneuver throughout all areas of the property and from floor to floor either by stairways (minimum of 20 steps) or escalator. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.; and, have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop and kneel. Respond to visual and aural cues. Must have the manual dexterity to operate a computer and other necessary office equipment. Must be able to tolerate areas containing dust, loud noises and bright lights. Must be able to work varied shifts, weekends and holidays as needed. Ability to simultaneously manage several projects, and not be frustrated by changing priorities and unforeseen obstacles to achieving objectives. Ability to speak distinctly and persuasively. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand.
