The purpose of this job is to provide comprehensive Maintenance and I&E support throughout the FUJIFILM New Castle Site, ensuring the reliable operation of manufacturing plants, labs and warehouses and general facilities. Responsibilities include handling general maintenance through daily work orders, carrying out preventative maintenance activities, conducting routine inspections and calibrations and progressing emergency repairs under the direction of the Maintenance and Facilities Manager. The technician must have demonstrated field experience across multiple disciplines including mechanical maintenance of production equipment, utility systems maintenance and repair, as well as electrical maintenance, instrumentation and controls. The technician is required to work safely and adhere to the site EHS and regulatory guidelines while performing tasks and through the managing third-party contractors and work permits.

  • Responsible for the maintenance of all plant and lab, warehouse and office resources, site utilities and grounds under the direction of the Maintenance and Facilities Manager.
  • Responsible for installing, maintaining, and testing electrically driven equipment, machinery and instrumentation (low and medium voltage).
  • Proficiency in maintaining, troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing various equipment, including boilers, air handlers, chillers, motors, compressed air systems, gearboxes and agitators, piping systems, electrical controls, DI water systems and reverse osmosis scales, fans/blowers, packaging equipment, and pumps.
  • Use troubleshooting skills to recognize abnormal operating situations, system and equipment problems, and potential safety hazards.
  • Identify root cause, recommend/implement solutions that prevent problem reoccurrence, and document failure analysis.
  • Assist Maintenance and Facilities Manager in planning mechanical and electrical requirements for preventative maintenance programs and make recommendations for future repairs or replacements.
  • Maintain an appropriate and accurate inventory of mechanical and electrical spare parts, create and organize equipment files for building systems, and progress the necessary scheduled services for equipment maintenance.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of repairs, including progressing parts and materials used for reorder.
  • Write electrical operation, isolation, and maintenance procedures as needed and assist in training on procedures where appropriate.
  • Install, modify, run & maintain new and existing plant process equipment and systems.
  • Piping installations and repairs for process and compressed air systems with various piping materials.
  • Operate and maintain maintenance equipment such as power tools, welders, motors, etc.
  • Perform mechanical and controls installation for small plant capital projects.
  • Operate industrial forklifts and other motorized equipment as required.
  • Perform minor welding for repairs.
  • Act as liaison between suppliers/manufacturers and manufacturing partners for problems with equipment.
  • Adhere to all plant-level regulatory requirements related to safety, environmental, and GMP standards.
  • Graduate of 2-year technical school or equivalent.
  • 5+ years as an instrument technician/electrician in a manufacturing environment, performing highly skilled electrical and controls system maintenance and repairs.
  • 2-4 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing plant.
  • Field experience and demonstrated proficiency in mechanical maintenance of production equipment, utility systems maintenance and repair, and electrical maintenance, instrumentation, and controls.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA and GMP requirements related to maintenance activities throughout the plant.
  • ISO 9001 & 14001 compliance environment.
  • Experience with motor controls and standard electrical components.
  • Proven experience with repair and programming for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), particularly Allen Bradley and Siemens.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Competent with mechanical and piping installations and repairs.
  • Working knowledge of overall building operations including engineering/maintenance disciplines such as pipefitting, welding, millwrighting, general carpentry work, painting, and general building construction.
  • Basic computer skills include the use of standard office software (Word, Excel Outlook) and computerized maintenance programs.
