About The Position

The position of Maintenance/Food Handler is responsible for the proper maintenance, cleanliness of the building and grounds and provide oversight, supervision, and compliance to food service operation. Incumbent in this position demonstrates sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 4 hours Certification in Serving Safe Food in Child Care (4 key concepts of USDA program course) or completion of the training within the first week of employment.
  • 45 DCF hours preferred.
  • Some level of experience in maintenance and Janitorial required.
  • Ability to communicate well with diverse populations.
  • Ability to bend, squat, reach, and move about for an extensive amount of the time.
  • Ability to Lift, carry, push, pull, and otherwise move objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Work a flexible schedule as required.
  • Successful completion of background process which includes: Local background check, Level 2 clearance (FBI, FDLE), clear TB test, medical clearance, drug test and reference checks.
  • Adhere to the use of Universal Health & Safety Precautions as applicable

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties associated with day-to-day maintenance of facility and equipment, including but not necessarily limited to basic carpentry work, “patch-and-paint”, office set up, repairs and maintenance.
  • Build and maintain a clear line of communication with supervisor and center staff.
  • Clean Classrooms, office areas, halls and bathrooms as well as trashcans.
  • Maintain bathroom cleaning logs up today.
  • Follow and maintain the playground safety check list on a daily basis and inform supervisor of any deficiencies in a timely manner.
  • Shampoo carpets and area rugs at least every six months, or as necessary.
  • Vacuum carpet in all rooms daily and area rugs in all classrooms daily.
  • Change air conditioner filters and emergency lights batteries as needed.
  • Receives supplies and ensure accuracy of order and storage them.
  • Use chemical according to OSHA and other funding standards.
  • Respond to fire and Alarms, according to set procedures.
  • Supply classrooms, kitchen, and bathrooms with soap, paper goods and other supplies as necessary, keep control of supplies given.
  • Clean parking lot, playground areas, surrounding areas to ensure cleanliness and absence of any hazardous material.
  • Make round and report immediately to the Supervisor any building hazard and/or non-working condition.
  • Be aware of surroundings in order to provide clear information and react in an effective and productive way.
  • Complete are required trainings as per standards, funding, licensing and other trainings as requested by supervisor.
  • Set up, breakdown for special meetings held in the facility.
  • Adhere to EasterSeals South Florida policy and procedure as applicable to facilities and maintenance.
  • Complete projects, repairs and work orders in a timely manner; prioritizing safety concerns.
  • Order and pick up supplies as required to complete maintenance and facility projects.
  • Responsible for the day to day operation of Center food services.
  • Receive food deliveries in compliance with all food program guidelines.
  • Build and maintain a positive and effective line of communication with and supervisor.
  • Inform supervisor of any deficiencies in the kitchen to prevent delays in the food preparation and delivery.
  • Serve special diets to meet children’s dietary needs as indicated by the Health coordinator.
  • Ensure meals are served in adequate portions of each meal component as determined by the Food Program.

  • Operate kitchen equipment as directed.
  • Maintain an accurate record of menus and number of meals served daily.
  • Maintain all related kitchen and food program logs such as the thermometer calibration logs, the kitchen daily safety inspection logs up today at all times
  • Maintain necessary daily record keeping and documentation; submit documentation in accordance with agency and contract requirements.
  • Ensure delivery to all daily food delivery slip, catering evaluation form food supplies invoices at the end of the month ae given to the secretary in a timely basis.
  • Maintain and inventory up to date and the control of needed supplies in kitchen, including cleaning and disinfecting solutions.
  • Clean food preparation, serving areas and serving cartas instructed.
  • Maintain work area in clean and orderly condition.
  • Assist in distribution of meals in healthy and safe conditions.
  • Assist in the disposal of garbage.
  • Disinfect all serving utensils as per Department of Health regulations.
  • Participate in all required Food Program and other related trainings as required.
  • Take at least one (1) online course related to the Food program in annually basis for professional development.
  • Performs other duties assigned by supervisor
