About The Position

Direct and manage the maintenance services of the district. Maintain the physical school facilities in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use may be made at all times. Provide students with a physical learning environment that is safe, clean, attractive and functional.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Certification in area of specialization
  • Valid Texas driver’s license
  • 5 years of recent, related experience perferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that maintenance operations are supportive of the instructional goals of the district.
  • Responds in a timely manner to repair requests from work order system and or campus level.
  • Assesses and responds to needs related to job responsibilities.
  • Designs feasible projects for implementing innovations as necessary.
  • Assists other plant services personnel when necessary.
  • Maintains safety standards in conformance with federal, state and insurance regulations and develops a program of preventive safety.
  • Ensures that the necessary equipment is maintained in operating and optimum condition.
  • Abides by the federal and state law, State Board of Education rule and local board policy in maintenance area as necessary.
  • Compiles, maintains and files all reports, records and other documents required in maintenance area this includes work orders and updating the work order system.
  • Has the best interest for the maintenance budget and ensures that materials purchased are cost effective to complete the necessary work orders, tasks and jobs.
  • Assists with the inventory and stock control program for equipment and supplies.
  • Initiates purchase orders as necessary.
  • Notifies Director of Maintenance and Grounds or the Director of Plant Services in a timely manner regarding the purchasing of materials and supplies necessary for maintaining a productive operation.
  • Recommends disposal of obsolete equipment and purchase replacement equipment when necessary.
  • Performs disaster duty when needed.
  • Attends professional growth activities to keep abreast of innovative techniques in maintenance operations.
  • Responds to after-hours emergencies as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Reads district email account for communication purposes.
  • Reports to work on time daily.
  • Attends work in a reliable and regular manner.
  • Looks at KRONOS time via computer weekly.
  • Provides missed punch forms as necessary and Absent from Duty forms when absent from work.
  • Maintains an hourly work week that does not exceed 40 hours, and gets pre-approval for any hours above the 40 hours.
