About The Position

Are you a hands-on, proactive problem solver with a passion for keeping things running smoothly? Do you enjoy performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks, and have the skills to handle general mechanical issues or assist skilled tradespeople in more complex repairs? If so, we want you on our team! As a Maintenance Worker, you will be responsible for performing semi-skilled and skilled maintenance and repair work, as well as assisting skilled workers with more advanced tasks. This role involves working on various maintenance projects at the MDU Resources Community Bowl and Bavendick Center to ensure that these facilities remain in top condition. From carpentry and plumbing to HVAC and minor electrical repairs, you'll be involved in keeping everything running smoothly.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Three years of directly related commercial maintenance experience.
  • Good working knowledge of the methods, practices, tools, and materials used in general maintenance and repair work.
  • Ability to perform semi-skilled and skilled maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to operate equipment (i.e., bobcat, forklift, etc.)
  • Basic computer software skills - email and electronic calendar (Outlook).
  • Good verbal communication skills in dealing with other employees and the public.
  • Must have a current valid driver's license.
  • Required to wear uniforms provided by the College while on duty.
  • Must be available for on-call weekend, holiday, and night duty.
  • Must observe established safety practices and procedures in working with chemicals, materials, and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and repair tasks, including carpentry, plumbing, flooring, painting, HVAC, and minor electrical repairs.
  • Handle building and equipment maintenance work at both the MDU Resources Community Bowl and Bavendick Center.
  • Assist skilled tradesmen in completing more complex repair work when needed.
  • Move furniture, equipment, and supplies as necessary.
  • Schedule repairs with external contractors.
  • Maintain accurate records of all repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Assist with snow removal and grounds maintenance to ensure clean and safe environments.
  • Report any breakdowns, damages, safety concerns, or personnel issues to the supervisor.
  • Contribute ideas to support innovation, creativity, and continuous improvement in the department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
