About The Position

The Maintenance Worker supports the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all hotel facilities throughout the seasonal lifecycle—opening, peak operations, and close-down. This role performs a wide range of maintenance tasks including plumbing, basic electrical, carpentry, HVAC troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, grounds work, and general repairs. Working in a remote environment with a large seasonal workforce and high guest volume, this position requires flexibility, problem-solving, and the ability to respond to maintenance requests quickly—including occasional night calls for guest room issues. Maintenance Workers contribute directly to guest satisfaction, operational continuity, and the safety of the property. Experience the Endless Summer of Alaska at Denali Park Village Hotel! Requirements

  • Previous maintenance experience in hospitality, facilities, property management, construction, or related trades preferred.
  • General knowledge of basic repairs in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC troubleshooting.
  • Ability to diagnose issues, identify solutions, and perform repairs safely and efficiently.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills when interacting with guests and staff.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, remote environment.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred; ability to safely operate maintenance vehicles, carts, or equipment.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and participation in night-call rotations.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and access tight spaces when required.
  • Ability to walk over uneven terrain between buildings in a remote setting.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions typical of Denali (rain, wind, cold).
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, or reach for extended periods while completing repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with “watering up” the lodge, including preparing plumbing systems, activating water lines, and ensuring all buildings and rooms are operational.
  • Prepare guest rooms, public areas, and employee housing for the season by performing inspections, minor repairs, and equipment checks.
  • Help set up seasonal infrastructure such as outdoor furniture, signage, safety equipment, and workspaces.
  • Complete start-of-season preventative maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • Respond promptly to guest room and facility maintenance requests, including basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general repairs.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance checks on equipment, appliances, guest rooms, and building systems.
  • Maintain the upkeep of lodge grounds including landscaping support, debris removal, and exterior building care.
  • Partner with other departments to resolve maintenance issues impacting operations or guest experience.
  • Document work orders, parts used, and completed tasks in the maintenance tracking system.
  • Participate in on-call or night-call rotations as required.
  • Assist with shut down by “blowing down” buildings, including draining water lines, winterizing equipment, and securing all facilities for the off-season.
  • Perform end-of-season room and building inspections; address repairs before winter weather.
  • Inventory tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies; report restock needs to leadership.
  • Help prepare infrastructure and grounds for winter closure.
