About The Position

MAINTENANCE PERSON - Carpentry, Electrical, HVAC, Masonry or Plumbing License / Experience Preferred. All applicants must apply on www.SchoolSpring.com to be considered. QUALIFICATIONS: 1) Certification of good health signed by a licensed physician; 2) Demonstrated aptitude for successful completion of the tasks assigned; 3) Have a basic knowledge of hand and power tools; 4) Demonstrated knowledge in the basic techniques of painting, carpentry, plumbing, and heating, electrical and machinery repair; 5) Have a basic knowledge of the manual control of oil burners; 6) Valid Drivers License with no repeated violations (if required); 7) Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable. JOB GOAL: To maintain the physical school plant in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use may be made of all buildings at all times. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 52-week year. Salary to be established by the School Committee. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of School Committee Policy. Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair physical plants as needed
  • Assist in the moving and assembly of equipment, furniture and supplies as necessary
  • Line strip any baseball, soccer, football or softball field as required
  • Perform any preliminary maintenance work prior to the work performance of outside contractors as designated by the Chief Operating Officer, Assistant Director of Facilities and/or Working Supervisor
  • Perform duties pertaining to the upkeep of grounds which are delegated by the Chief Operating Officer, Assistant Director of Facilities and/or Working Supervisor which are not deemed to be sublet to outside contractors
  • Assist in preventative maintenance, cleanliness and repairs of maintenance vehicle
  • Assist in cleaning of maintenance equipment and shop
  • Performs custodial tasks when required
  • Available after hours for emergencies as required
  • Assume any other duties or assignments in the area of maintenance and/or grounds as designated by the Chief Operating Officer, Assistant Director of Facilities and/or Working Supervisor
