About The Position

The Maintenance Worker performs semi-skilled and manual labor in the maintenance, repair, and construction of the City’s infrastructure, including streets, alleys, and drainage systems. This position supports the safe and efficient operation of public spaces and ensures essential services are maintained for residents and visitors.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Applicants must successfully complete a pre-employment physical, substance screening, and background investigation prior to final approval.
  • Ability to safely operate light equipment, tools, and work vehicles.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in facilities maintenance, landscaping, concrete/asphalt work, or general construction/maintenance is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of roadway and drainage maintenance practices is desirable.
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) may be required or must be obtained within a specified timeframe (e.g., within 6 months of hire).

Responsibilities

  • Construct, repair, and maintain roadways and related infrastructure.
  • Patch potholes and seal road surfaces using concrete or asphalt materials.
  • Repair, install, and replace City street signs and markers.
  • Remove debris, litter, and obstructions from streets, alleys, and drainage systems.
  • Clean, maintain, and repair storm drains, gutters, culverts, and related drainage structures.
  • Operate light and medium equipment such as dump trucks, front-end loaders, street sweepers, and other work vehicles.
  • Perform heavy manual labor outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Support other City departments during special events, emergencies, or disaster response situations.
