About The Position

United Methodist Homes (UMH), a faith-based nonprofit founded in 1958, provides senior living options in the Greater Binghamton, NY area and Northeastern Pennsylvania. Forefront Healthcare is proud to partner with UMH, delivering Environmental Services and Facilities Management at the Elizabeth Church Campus to support the community. Responsible for performing complex repairs and preventative maintenance on machinery and mechanical equipment related to all buildings.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One year certificate from technical school preferred.
  • Two years or more related experience and/or training in at least one maintenance specialty; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively in one on one or small groups of residents and/or family members or employees of organization.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license
  • The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit.
  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains buildings in by performing maintenance in areas such as: electrical, plumbing, heating, cooling, masonry, concrete, roofing, carpentry, painting, etc.
  • Maintains and repairs equipment
  • Has routine (24 hour) on-call responsibilities
  • Operates snow removal equipment to maintains parking lots and sidewalks
  • Assists other departments with moving furniture and storing supplies
  • Performs assigned work orders daily and prioritizes tasks when necessary
  • Plumber: maintenance on bathroom, laundry, kitchen pipes, equipment, air conditioning units, hot water tanks, etc.
  • Carpenter: constructs/builds objects using wood, installs sheetrock, room conversions/remodeling, masonry
  • Electrician: maintenance on wiring, running cables/wires throughout offices/buildings, installs/repairs outlets, etc.
  • Painter: Paints offices and apartments, some furniture refinishing
  • Preventative Maintenance: Responsible for the preventative maintenance program including routine audit checks on eyewash stations, hot water, various equipment/machinery
  • Understands and able to direct fire dept. on fire panels and layout of the campus
  • Understands and follows all HIPPA Guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned
