About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 2 to 3 years of experience in general maintenance work, preferably in a public works environment.
• Knowledge of basic tools used in maintenance and construction work.
• Ability to operate basic equipment and machinery, such as pumps and generators.
• Valid Florida driver's license without restrictions.

Nice To Haves

• Florida Work Zone Traffic Control Safety Certification (to be obtained within 12 months of hire).
• Florida Stormwater, Erosion and Sedimentation Control Inspector Certification (to be obtained within 12 months of hire).

Responsibilities

• Maintain grounds of city property by spraying and trimming foliage, clearing brush, and cutting grass and weeds.
• Remove rubbish and replenish restroom supplies.
• Repair and clean buildings, walks, tables, and utility installations.
• Assist field crews and trades workers in various tasks, including mixing concrete and routine equipment maintenance.
• Repair, remove, and replace concrete flatwork for sidewalks, curbs, and driveways.
• Clear and dig ditches, assemble sandbags, and build retaining walls.
• Install traffic devices, erect barricades, and assist in patching roads.
• Perform work in manholes and operate cement mixers, pumps, and generators.
• Load and unload heavy materials from trucks and vans.
