About The Position

Penn State is searching for a full time Maintenance Worker, Utility (Behrend) - Grade 9 to join the team. Duties include operating various types of scrubbing, buffing, and shampooing equipment, such as scrubbing machine, vacuum, wet-dry pick-up machine, etc. The worker will also use hand tools as required; sweep, scrub, strip, seal, wax and shampoo various types of floors and floor coverings and furniture. Additional responsibilities include removing and replacing incandescent bulbs, fluorescent tubes and starters, shades and covers from permanent fixtures, venetian and roller blinds, window screens, wall hangings, etc. The worker will also remove accumulated waste and debris from buildings, relocate furniture, equipment, supplies and construction materials, wash windows and light fixtures, assist in set-up and clean-up of events, and maintain tools and work areas in a clean and orderly condition. The work schedule is from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. with days off on Saturday and Sunday.

Requirements

• Up to 3 months of effective experience.
• Valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check.

Responsibilities

• Operate various types of scrubbing, buffing, and shampooing equipment.
• Use hand tools to sweep, scrub, strip, seal, wax and shampoo floors and furniture.

• Operate a motor vehicle to transport materials and personnel.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in a clean condition.
• Shovel snow and chop ice; spread cinders and sand on walks.
